About the event
Join us for Potted Conversations, a free community event celebrating Black History Month through a blend of nature and dialogue. This hands-on planting workshop invites participants to explore the rich flora and fauna of Africa, particularly West Africa, while engaging in meaningful discussions on the region’s cultural and ecological heritage.
Discover plants synonymous with African life, learn about their uses, and connect with the biodiversity that has shaped communities for centuries. As we plant seeds, we will also plant the seeds of conversation—exploring the links between nature, history, and culture in African societies, alongside insights on Yorkshire’s plants and the challenges faced by Black communities in Yorkshire.
There will be no PowerPoint presentations—just lunch, planting, and enriching conversations. A unique chance to broaden your network, engage with nature, and nurture your soul.
Join us for an engaging afternoon of learning, planting, and conversation as we honour Black history through the lens of African ecology. Together, let's explore, learn , connect and encourage inclusion while nurturing our souls.
